Children love to experience new adventures, and the children of Banwell Primary school are no exception. As well as some amazing day trips, the school takes the Year 3 & 4 children on an overnight camp, and the Year 6 children on a four day residential camp. These excursions are filled with activities that many of the children will never have experienced before.
The Year 3/4 camp includes an obstacle course dug that is into the ground, eating around the camp fire and staying in tents. For some children, this may be their first night away from home, and can be really exciting.
The Year 6 camp sees the children facing many challenges including surfing, abseiling, crate stacking and rib boat riding. They have the opportunity to achieve goals they never thought possible.
Although these experiences are wonderful, it can also be very expensive for parents, as the children need a lot of equipment that families may not already have. Banwell Primary School recognised this problem and wanted to find a solution. We were contacted by Banwell Primary School and couldn’t resist not donating. We donated four complete camping sets to the school which included sleeping bags, roll mats, lanterns and crockery & cutlery.
The school now have equipment that they can offer to lend out to family’s year after year. Claire Pocock, Head Teacher at Banwell Primary said ‘We are so grateful to Glen and the team at Davan’s for their very generous donation to the school. It will make a difference to so many children and their families.’
