Supporting a Truly Important Cause

For more than 35 years, Weston Hospicecare has been a cornerstone of care and compassion for people living with life-limiting illnesses across North Somerset and Somerset. Supporting a population of over 170,000 people — from Clevedon to Burnham-on-Sea and Cheddar — the hospice provides essential services to those who need them most.

Based in Uphill, the hospice offers a ten-bedroom inpatient unit, a day hospice, and a wellbeing centre. Their dedicated Community Nursing Specialists also deliver care directly in patients’ homes, ensuring comfort and dignity wherever it’s needed. Alongside this, their Family Support Team provides emotional, social, and spiritual support to both patients and their loved ones.

What makes Weston Hospicecare especially remarkable is its commitment to personalised care. Every individual is treated with a holistic approach, ensuring their physical, emotional, and practical needs are fully supported.

Why the Mendips Challenge Matters

The Mendips Challenge is more than just an event — it’s a powerful way for the community to come together, take on a challenge, and raise funds for a vital local service. Events like this play a crucial role in helping Weston Hospicecare continue its work.

With only around 20% of its funding coming from the Government, the hospice relies heavily on the generosity of supporters, fundraisers, and sponsors. That’s why initiatives like the Mendips Challenge are so important — they help ensure that expert, compassionate care remains available, free of charge, to those facing incredibly difficult times.
